A Creative Retreat at Wood Farm House

We are so excited to invite you to join us for a few days of making in the Cotswolds, designed to reignite your creative spark.

The retreat is for anyone looking to get in touch with their creative side and discover the joy of making friends, fun and things.

Through daily workshops, delicious food, local exploration and plenty of time to recharge in beautiful surroundings, the retreat will leave you feeling inspired, restored and ready to bring more creativity into everyday life.

Nestled on the edge of the picturesque village of Whichford, Wood Farm House is a beautifully restored Cotswold farmhouse surrounded by rolling countryside, winding lanes and some of England’s most charming villages. With impeccable interiors throughout, the house combines character with modern comfort, creating a warm and welcoming space to slow down, switch off and reconnect with your creativity.

Complete with cosy corners, generous communal spaces and beautiful views the farmhouse offers the perfect setting for a few days of inspiration, rest and making. Whether you're curled up with a sketchbook, enjoying a cup of tea in the garden or gathering around the table for a long lunch, every detail has been chosen to encourage a slower pace and a fuller cup.

A spacious kitchen with a large wooden dining table and ten chairs with checkered bows, two hanging cone pendant lights, and a marble backsplash with open shelving and windows with curtains.

A cozy living room with a beige sofa, decorative pillows, a rustic wooden coffee table, and large windows that let in natural sunlight and offer a view of a garden with green trees and colorful flowers.

The Retreat Includes

Daily Creative Workshops

Sarah of Thread The Word will lead us through a variety of creative pursuits, from embroidery and watercolour to collage and creative journalling. Drawing inspiration from both our surroundings and everyday life, the workshops are designed to help you see that creativity isn't something reserved for artists, it's available to all of us.

Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or reconnecting with an existing practice the aim is to leave you with renewed confidence and plenty of ideas to continue creating long after the retreat ends.

Wine Tasting Experience

We’ll be joined by Tatiana Humphreys, aka The Little Grape, whose mission in a glass is to simplify wine and inspire confidence. Learn more about what you like, dislike and how to put this into words.

Focusing on real-world experiences and everyday choices, she has distilled ten years of wine experience into what you actually need to know.

Delicious Seasonal Food

We’ll enjoy plenty of delicious meals inspired by the season. Think leisurely wholesome breakfasts, nourishing lunch spreads, a slice of something sweet for afternoon tea and feasting over candlelit dinners with new friends.

Creative Field Trips

One morning we'll head to nearby Moreton-in-Marsh for its famous Tuesday market, one of the largest and oldest weekly markets in the Cotswolds. Held in the heart of the town, the market has been a local tradition for centuries and brings together farmers, artisans, antique dealers and independent traders from across the region.

We’ll browse stalls filled with seasonal produce, flowers, vintage finds, homewares and local delicacies, before wandering the town's independent shops and cafés. Bring a notebook, sketchbook or camera and gather inspiration from the colours, textures and characters you encounter along the way.

We’ll also take a stroll over to Whichford Pottery, a family run pottery workshop to browse the handcrafted items and take inspiration for our own ideas.

Recharging and Relaxing

An important part of creativity is creating space. There will be plenty of free time to slow down and simply be, whether that's taking a walk through the countryside, reading in the garden, sketching from a cosy chair or enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of tea.

Whether it's learning a new skill, sharing works-in-progress, gathering around the table or ending the day in conversation, this retreat is about the joy of coming together to create, connect and be inspired.

Georgina Brisby

Georgina is a Creative working in the advertising industry. She has spent the last 12 years as a writer working across a range of clients from IKEA, KFC, Amazon Prime, Lurpak and TK Maxx.  During her recent maternity leave, while craving a creative outlet, she began writing and illustrating a weekly Substack called Mumfiltered. What started as a personal newsletter is now growing into a community centred around creativity, conversation and bringing women together through events, workshops and retreats.

She believes some of the best ideas emerge around a dinner table, over good food, with people you've only just met. Her retreats are designed to create exactly that kind of space. Relaxed, inspiring and full of interesting conversations.

Outside of work and parenting, she enjoys writing, drawing and cooking and has catered for events, parties and most recently retreats.

Sarah started Thread The Word six years ago, creating bespoke hand embroidered pieces on off cut and remnant fabrics that would otherwise be sent to landfill.  A focus on circularity and using what already exists in new ways is evident in all her work and she encourages others to do the same. With a huge love for all things handmade, one of her greatest joys is sharing that love with others and encouraging them to pick up a pen/paintbrush/needle and give it a go themselves. As many tell her nervously at the start of workshops, they were “rubbish at art at school”, she leads with enthusiasm reminding us that we all have a creative side to explore.

She has worked with brands such as Liberty, Space NK and Ganni as well as individual clients commissioning her work. She has just returned from an Artist in Residency at Olepangi Farm in Kenya where she enjoyed leading creative sessions and experimenting more with mixed media work inspired by her surroundings there.
